Description
Red Dragon Guppy — Fire-Red Color That Commands Attention
If you want one fish that people notice the second they walk past your tank, the Red Dragon Guppy is it. This strain is bred for deep, even red color that runs across the body and pours into a broad, flowing tail. Against green plants or a dark background, the red looks almost electric.
The males carry the most intense color and the largest fins, while the females show softer red tones on the tail and fins with a fuller, rounder body. Together they make a beautiful, well-balanced pair and the perfect start to a red guppy colony.
Red Dragons are hardy and easy-going. They settle in quickly, swim actively through the middle and upper levels of the tank, and live happily alongside other peaceful fish such as small tetras, rasboras, corydoras and other guppies. Avoid keeping them with fin-nipping species that might damage their tails.
Good food and clean water keep that red at its best. Feeding a color-enhancing food a few times a week, together with regular partial water changes, helps the color stay rich, deep and glowing.
